A comparison that is most definitely not safe for work
...or anywhere else.
A 17 year old girl was murdered for having a presumably romantic relationship with a young man from another religion. She is a Kurd, he was allegedly a Sunni.
This sort of thing happens here once in a while. For example, Matthew Shepard was killed for being gay.
The difference? Shepard was killed by two drunk rednecks who sought to "rob a gay guy."
The girl? She was killed by a mob of over a thousand people, including local police officers.
Our country isn't always great. I am appalled by recent attempts to legislate bigotry and homophobia. I'm disgusted by the anger directed at illegal immigrants, which is bigotry disguised as something else.
The ideals of western civilization stand as the greatest political achievement in history - the victory of reason, logic and liberty over dogma, religion, fear and unfettered emotions.
You won't get arrested for kissing a girl in public. You won't be tortured and then executed for having sex with the person you love.
It's not just "a different culture." It's disgusting. It should not be tolerated by anybody.

Do you think you should be allowed to break the law for any reason? And, what is this disguise you speak of, is it the devil cloaked in police uniforms, or possibly a family angry because one of their family members was killed by these illegal immigrants, or Americans who lost their jobs to illegal immigrants or the Americans who have no hospital services in their area because the illegal immigrants who do not pay their way, bankrupted the hospital out of existence.
Or did you just thing it sounded good and made you feel better than others?
You need to take a reality pill and get off your high horse, its legs are wobbling under the weight of your discontent.
Every single one of the exact same objections you raise were the same objections raised when my ancestors and your ancestors came to this country though altered slightly to fit modern technology and society. With the Italians, the Irish, the Chinese and the Jewish waves of immigrants (among others), people were saying the same things. None of those concerns were valid then, and they sure aren't valid now.
There's plenty of room for everybody. There's plenty of money to go around.
The wheel turns, and it is the same now as it was then.
Oh, and illegal immigrants statistically commit fewer crimes than citizens do. Besides, there is NOTHING that the government can do to stop the immigrants from coming here - fences don't work. Walls don't work. People with nothing want to come to a place with everything. it's only natural. You should feel honored and flattered.
The fact that they're breaking the law has nothing at all to do with the situation. It's a dodge.
Do I believe we should improve our immigration laws and rules for entry, yes.
Why is it fair for some to wait as long as 10-15 years to get approval, after they have spent $10,000 out of pocket, when Mexicans are allowed to come anytime for free. Where is that fair? Should we just advise everyone to stop going through our system and all go to Mexico and then get into America for free?
If you want to live in a real 3rd world country, why don't you move? Why make all of us who happen to love our country exist in some fashion of moderation and sanity.
